How to Get Gila County Police Records
The Gila County Sheriff's Office offers an online records portal for public records requests. Visit the Records Division page to access the portal and submit your request. The online system is the fastest way to start your request.
Most traffic accident reports are available 14 working days from the date of the accident. Deputies have 10 working days to complete and submit all other written reports. These timeframes apply to when records become available, not how long your request takes to process.
The Custodian of Records is Chelle Hoey. Contact the Records Unit at (928) 402-1883 for questions about Gila County police records. The main office in Globe can be reached at (928) 402-4373. The Payson office number is (928) 474-2208.
Gila County Sheriff Records Fees
Non-victims pay $8.00 for the first 20 pages of Gila County police records. Each additional page costs $0.25. This covers most standard incident reports since they typically run under 20 pages.
Crime victims get their first copy free. This includes the police report, audio recordings, and video from their case. Arizona law gives victims this right under ARS 39-127. Identify yourself as a victim when you submit your request. Staff will verify your status before waiving the fee.
Note: Processing times vary based on the complexity of your request and current workload.

Arizona Public Records Access
ARS 39-121 requires public records be available for inspection during office hours. This applies to Gila County police records. You can request records without stating a reason for your interest.
Some records have access restrictions. Active investigations may delay release until the case closes. Records involving minors have names and details redacted. Personal information like home addresses is typically removed before release.
If your request is denied, ARS 39-121.02 lets you file a special action in superior court. The court can order release of improperly withheld records and award attorney fees to the prevailing party.
