How to Request Mesa Police Records
The easiest way to request Mesa police records is through the GovQA portal. Create an account, submit your request, and track its progress online. You can pay fees and receive records electronically for many request types. The system sends notifications when your records are ready.
The Mesa PD Criminal Justice Information Division page screenshot shows the department records office contact information and services.
You can also visit the Criminal Justice Information Division at 59 S. Hibbert, Mesa, AZ 85210. Call (480) 644-2310 for questions. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Note the four-day work week. The office is closed on Fridays. If you need help on a Friday, use the GovQA portal or leave a voicemail.
For collision reports, use the BuyCrash portal. This separate system handles traffic accident reports specifically. Reports are available 5 to 14 days after the crash. BuyCrash is faster than going through the general records process for traffic incidents. LexisNexis adds a convenience fee on top of the base report cost.
Mesa Police Records Fees
Police reports cost $5.00 for the first 50 pages. Each additional page adds $0.20. Most incident reports fall within the base fee since they are typically under 50 pages. Longer investigation files or reports with many attachments may exceed this limit and cost more.
Complete fee schedule:
- Police Report: $5.00 first 50 pages, $0.20 each additional
- Photo CD/DVD: $10.00 each
- Certified Copy: $10.00 additional
- Audio Medium: $10.00 each
- Video Medium: $25.00 each
- Police Video Recordings: $46.00 per hour reviewed
- MAARS (Adult Arrest Record Search): $10.00
Crime victims receive free copies under ARS 39-127. This covers police reports, audio recordings, and video from their case. Identify yourself as the victim when you request Mesa police records. Staff will verify your status in the case file and waive fees for your first copy. This benefit applies to Part I crimes, domestic violence, and sexual offenses.
Mesa Adult Arrest Record Search (MAARS)
MAARS lets you search for adult arrest records within Mesa. This $10 service checks whether someone has been arrested by Mesa Police. It shows arrests regardless of the outcome. Dismissed charges and acquittals still appear since they are part of the arrest record. The search covers the individual's entire history with Mesa PD.
MAARS only covers Mesa Police arrests. It does not include other agencies, state records, or federal arrests. For broader searches, you would need to check with Arizona DPS or individual agencies. MAARS is useful for employers, landlords, and others who need local Mesa police records for screening purposes. The $10 fee makes it an affordable option for basic checks.
Note: MAARS shows arrest history only, not convictions or case outcomes. An arrest does not mean the person was found guilty. To see how a case ended, you would need to check court records separately. The Maricopa County Superior Court has its own search system for case dispositions.
Arizona Public Records Access
ARS 39-121 requires public records be available during office hours. Mesa police records fall under this law. You can request records without explaining why you need them. Anyone can make a request regardless of their reason or where they live.
Video requests are capped at $46 per hour under ARS 39-129. This covers body camera footage, dash cam video, and other recordings. The fee covers staff time to review and redact protected content before release. Long videos add up quickly so consider narrowing your request to specific time frames.
Some records have access restrictions under state and federal law. Active investigations may delay release until the case is closed. Records involving juveniles have names and identifying information removed. Victim details are protected in many situations. Medical records, social security numbers, and other sensitive data are blacked out before release.
