How to Request Yuma Police Records
Submit requests through the LexisNexis portal. This online system handles records requests for Yuma PD. Create an account to submit requests and track their status. The portal lets you pay fees online and receive some records electronically. LexisNexis adds a processing fee to most requests on top of the agency fee.
You can also visit in person at two station locations. Station 1 is at 1500 South First Avenue with hours from 7:00AM to 7:00PM. The extended hours make it easier to pick up records after work. Station 2 is at 6390 East 26th Street with hours from 8:00AM to 4:30PM. Both locations handle records requests and can answer questions about what documents exist.
Call (928) 373-4700 for general questions. Email YPDRecAssist@yumaaz.gov for records assistance. FOIA requests go to YPDFOIArequests@yumaaz.gov. Staff can help you identify what records exist and explain the request process. Have your case number ready when you call. This speeds up the search considerably.
For traffic accident reports, use BuyCrash. This separate portal handles collision reports specifically. Reports are available within two weeks of the crash. BuyCrash is faster than going through the general records process for traffic incidents. The site adds a service fee to the base report cost.
Processing times vary based on what you request. Simple incident reports are usually ready within a week. Background checks take about the same time. Video requests take longer because staff must review footage and apply redactions. Body camera recordings require someone to watch the entire video and black out protected content.

Arizona Public Records Access
ARS 39-121 gives the public access to police records during office hours. Yuma police records fall under this law. You do not need to state a reason for your request. Anyone can request records regardless of their purpose or where they live. Arizona residency is not required to submit a request.
ARS 39-127 provides crime victims free access to records from their case. This covers all fees including the LexisNexis processing charge. Victims pay nothing for their first copy. Identify yourself as the victim when submitting your request. Staff will verify your status in the case file. This benefit applies to Part I crimes, domestic violence, and sexual offenses.
Some records have restrictions under state and federal law. Active investigations may delay release until the case closes. Records involving juveniles have names removed. Victim information is protected in sensitive cases. Medical records and social security numbers are always redacted before release.
The digital media fee of $46 per hour is the maximum allowed under ARS 39-129. This state cap applies to body camera footage, dash cam video, and other recordings. There is a one-hour minimum charge for video requests. Even a short clip costs at least $46 for the review and redaction work.

Yuma City and Yuma County
Yuma city sits in Yuma County in southwestern Arizona near the Mexico border. For incidents outside city limits, contact the Yuma County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff handles unincorporated areas of the county including agricultural areas and desert land. YCSO has a separate records request process.
Yuma is the largest city in the region and serves as the county seat. The police department handles all incidents within city limits. This includes the downtown area, residential neighborhoods, and commercial districts. If your incident happened just outside city limits, the sheriff may have the records instead.
Arizona Department of Public Safety handles incidents on Interstate 8 and other state highways. If your incident happened on a state route through Yuma, DPS may have the records. The Bureau of Land Management and other federal agencies may have jurisdiction in some areas near Yuma. Check your paperwork to see which agency responded. The case number prefix indicates the responding agency.
For incidents on the California border area, additional agencies may be involved. Border Patrol has a significant presence in Yuma. If federal agencies were involved in your incident, records requests would go through federal channels rather than local police.
